Creative team
David Phipps-Davis (Director)
Philippa Lucas (Musical Director)
Wendy Sheader (Choreographer)
The first rehearsal is on Tuesday 25th January 2022. This and
the following Thursday (27th) are pre-audition rehearsals to
find out more about the show and learn some of the company numbers. If
you want to dance in the show, there will also be the opportunity to do a
group dance audition at both evenings. Thereafter, rehearsals will take
place on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7.45pm-10pm and Sundays 2.30pm-5.30pm at
St. Peter’s Hall, High Street, Limpsfield, Oxted RH8 0DG (https://www.stpeterslimpsfield.org/how-to-find-us.html).
We move into the theatre from 15th March 2022 and rehearsals
in the theatre will be on Tuesday 15th (7.45-10), Friday 18th
(7.45-10), Saturday 19th (2.30-5.30), Monday 21st
(7.45-10) and Tuesday 22nd (7.45-10) before we open on
Wednesday 23rd. Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal
and there will be a detailed call sent out each week.
Everyone taking
part in the production will need to audition, even if you do not want to
have a solo. Auditions take place on Sunday 30th January from
2.30pm-5.30pm at St. Peter’s Hall
(if you cannot audition
on the 30th, please contact the director and another day may
well be able to be arranged). The auditions will be individually booked
singing slots. Please prepare any song from any musical (except anything
Disney or anything from Grease
or The Greatest
) to
be performed with a backing track.
You will need to
source your own backing track, but if you have any issues finding one,
please contact the director at chair@oxtedmtc.co.uk This is also the
same address you need to email to book an audition. When contacting,
please state a rough audition time that  works for you, what you
intend to sing (feel free to offer up several songs if you want) and
include a completed audition form which can be  found here To audition you must be  a paid-up member of
the company or have paid a £10 joining fee.
To do
either, please email membership@oxtedmtc.co.uk If you don’t
have a party piece or just want to sing in the chorus let us know as
Philippa will be offering up a few well-known songs which those people
can use to audition (these  include “Consider Yourself,” “I Could
Have Danced All Night,” “My Favourite Things,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man
Right Outa My Hair,” “There is Nothing Like a Dame” and “On the Street
Where You Live”) . Some songs we are intending to perform in the show
include “At the End of the Day” (Les
), and “Over at the Frankenstein Place” and “The
Time Warp” (The
Rocky Horror Show
) so if you’d like to audition for any of
the roles in those songs, let us know.
We very much
welcome new members for this and forthcoming productions
To perform with Oxted Musical Theatre Company you need to become a paid
member by completing the necessary form and paying the relevant annual
membership fee. Full individual membership is £40 a year and joint
membership for members who live at the same address is £60, junior
membership for those aged 21 and below and in full time education is £15
a year. Successful auditionees will be required to pay a show participation
fee (£20) in addition to the membership fee.
Note to

Repertoire to be included in the production will be finalised after
auditions and likely be heavily made up of songs used for auditions.
Therefore, it is important that not everyone sings a ballad, as there
will only be room to programme a handful of these. Feel free to audition
in duos, trios, quartets, etc. If in doubt, do something funny. Think
outside the box with regards to the usual casting the song has in the
show – including age and gender. And if you have an additional skill
which might be used in the show (playing an instrument, tap dancing,
etc.) let us know when applying to audition. If you’re not sure what to
use to audition with, discuss it with the director by emailing chair@oxtedmtc.co.uk
